Your Questions, Answered

From “What should I pack?” to “How safe is it?” — we’ve gathered the most common questions so you can feel fully prepared.

  • How do I get there ?
All routes start and end in Windoek which is serviced by the Hosea Kutako International Airport scheduled flights to Europe, Africa, and beyond
  • Are there visa requirements ?
Nationals of 33 countries, primarily from Europe, North America, Asia, and Oceania—including Germany, Spain, France, Italy, UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, among others—must obtain a visa either online or on arrival at designated entry points ( embassyofnamibia.se - VisasNews - missionofnamibia.ch namibian.org ). Entry points include Hosea Kutako International Airport (Windhoek), Walvis Bay Airport, and various border crossings with Namibia’s neighbours
  • Is there a pick and drop service ?
Yes, absolutely. You’ll be met at Hosea Kutako International Airport or your hotel in Windhoek on the morning of departure. All tours end at Windhoek Game Camp, and from there we’ll arrange your airport drop-off — simple and seamless.
  • Where do we stay the 1st night ?
We hit the road right after departure, so the first night is spent at a designated campsite along the route. Each itinerary has a carefully chosen first stop to ease you into the adventure.
  • Where do we stay the last night ?
All tours end with a stay at Windhoek Game Camp, offering a comfortable and relaxing final night close to the city. If it’s unavailable, we’ll arrange similar quality accommodation nearby to ensure a great end to your journey.
  • Any recommendations on the type of luggage ?
Space is limited. Soft-sided duffel bag or backpack (not a hard-shell suitcase) Max size: ~70–90 liters (approx. 60 × 35 × 35 cm), Weight limit: Typically 15–20 kg (33–44 lbs) per person. Daypack: One smaller backpack (20–30 L) for daily use and hikes
  • Can you drink tap water ?
Yes — tap water in most urban areas of Namibia, like Windhoek and Swakopmund, is generally safe to drink. That said, we provide clean drinking water throughout the trip, so you won’t need to rely on local sources. You’ll also have plenty of fresh water for showering and washing wherever we go.
  • Is there malaria ?
See Malaria Advice Section
  • Do I need vaccinations ?
No vaccinations are compulsory for entry into Namibia. However, it’s always a good idea to check with your local travel clinic or doctor for recommended vaccinations based on your health history and travel plans.
  • Do I really need hiking shoes vs sneakers ?
Our advice, as space is limited — choose one rugged, breathable, broken-in hiking shoe or boot that covers all bases, ideally mid-cut for ankle support and protection. Essential for bush walks, rocky hikes and dune walks
  • What is included in the price ?
Everything outlined in our offer is fully covered by the fee. From the moment you arrive, you're free to relax and enjoy the wonders of Namibia — no hidden costs, no unexpected add-ons. Unless you decide to go shopping for souvenirs or enjoy a night out at a local bar, there’s nothing else you’ll need to worry about.
Our goal is to make your time with us seamless, unforgettable, and stress-free
  • Do I need cash ?
While most places in Namibia accept cards, it’s a good idea to carry a small amount of Namibian Dollars (NAD) or South African Rand (ZAR) for small purchases, or local markets in remote areas.
That said, as mentioned above — almost everything is already included in your tour, so you won’t need much unless you choose to go shopping or enjoy extras like drinks at a local bar
  • Do I need to tip ?
Tipping is entirely at your discretion when it comes to services outside the tour, such as at restaurants or lodges. However, at myafricanadventures, we do not expect or accept tips. Your satisfaction is the only reward we aim for.
  • Who are the other guests and how many ?
We keep our groups small—no more than six people—ensuring that everyone shares a like-minded passion for discovering Namibia’s natural beauty and embracing the stress-free lifestyle only nature can provide

Children are welcome; however, please note that this is an outdoor experience, and our tents are designed to accommodate two people each

Spring and autumn are great in-between seasons — warm, dry, and perfect for travel. Pack for sun and layers — it’s hot by day, cool at night!
